I have severe CFS and FMS. I'm pretty much bedridden all the time now. In
the mid-eighties I had a sudden-onset flu that stayed for many months and was finally diagnosed as Chronic Epstein Barr Virus. After many more months of being
bedridden with bizarre illness symptoms I began to go into a remission and I was able to get my life back and do anything I wanted to without suffering health
repercussions. I even became a Forest Fire Fighter for a summer. I loved it. One of my favorite things was digging a trench on the side of the hill to sleep in
for the night. I finished college and taught in the First, Second and Third Grades for 11 years.
I was once again able to be extremely active and I miss it. I was into mountain biking, white water rafting, roller blading, running, SCUBA diving, Boogie
Boarding, skiing and water skiing, swimming, dancing, camping, co-ed softball and I played co-ed soccer too as an adult. I also love to cook and enjoy changing
recipes to suit our taste. When I first developed FMS after spraining my back in 2000, I got into Yoga, Pilates, Chi Gung and Tai Chi and these were extremely
helpful then, especially the Pilates.
I am now so severely sick from the CFS and in intractable pain from the FMS that I can no longer do any of this.
I enjoy learning about World History, Religions, Mythology, Geography, Science of all kinds, Sociology, and doing
Meditation. I've gotten a lot out of reading books about
Mindfulness Meditation by Thich Nhat Hanh.
I'm also studying how to invest in
the Stock Market long-term with free on-line Investing Lessons at About. When I feel well enough I enjoy stargazing and I like to study Astronomy as
well.
I love doing crafts, drawing and beading but I'm unable to sit up long enough to or hold steady enough these days. I am
always hopeful that I will get better.
I bought a roadbike that's designed for short women like me, 5'2" last Oct. but I've only been able to ride
it once. We have wonderful trails that wind along the canals here in Alameda and they connect to paths that run along the San Francisco Bay. All of this is
flat which is ideal for my situation. Riding my bike is the last exercise I can handle, even swimming is too hard for me now. I hope to get back on my bike and
get some strength back.
I'm on my laptop all the time now. I'm very grateful for the Web so that I can still have a life including a social
life. I'm glad I found Friends and I am already enjoying posting here and getting to know everyone. I enjoy
discussing movies and docs, I put some of my 5 Star movies and docs on my page, and discussing topics about anything; books, science theories, artwork
etc....
I'm also hoping to pick up some Norwegian. :)

I hope your day is a good one. I know they aren't always picture perfect, but I am hoping it was a better one than your yesterday. Thanks for the kudos and thanks for being a friend.
Gentle hugs, Gracie
